Plan A "Staycation" this Summer
With gas prices rising again and budgets a little tighter have you ever thought about taking a "staycation" this summer. Think about it...we live in this amazing beach community that people spend thousands of dollars each summer to visit. Why not visit it too...it could be really fun.
Here are some tips for having a successful "staycation" in Newport County:

Schedule start and end dates. Just as you would with a vacation, schedule a beginning and end to make it feel like an official vacation.
Pack that time with activities. Plan a daily activity, try somewhere new each day. Even if it is something right in your own yard. The goal is to get out of the "rut" of every day life.
Declare a chore free vacation. That means no chores! Don't make the bed, clean out the closets, pull weeds — nothing. You're on vacation! Pay all the bills and pack (get everything you need ready) before you vacation starts.
Take staycation photos or videos, just as you would if you went away from home for your vacation. Have the kids help to make an album.
Try it the kids will love it! And many find it more relaxing than traveling with young kids. No busy airports, making sure you remembered everything or long drives with the kids.
Don't like the tourist attractions? Plan activities in your own yard. Pitch a tent, play backyard games, roast marshmallows, go for a bike ride. Whatever you do, put away those blackberries and cell phones and really make time to RELAX and have uninterrupted time with the kids.
