This is a terrific art camp for children to explore their creativity. Children will discover the art of collage, drawing, painting and sculpture while exploring the Museum's environs and will be inspired to make their own unique artworks. Musician David Polansky - Wednesday February 23, 10:30 AM
Musician David Polansky will perform for children ages 6 and up. David plays keyboard while singing a number of very original children's songs. He involves the audience with singing, dance and other movement, questions and answers and his on the spot lyric writing from audience suggestions. His concert is informative, imaginative and great fun. No registration is required for this free program held in the lower level program room.
Family Safety Day - Thursday February 24, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Families with children of all ages are invited to Family Safety Day at the library! Downstairs in the lower level program room, families can listen to a presentation by the Newport Police Department and have their children photographed and fingerprinted for a photo ID card. Upstairs in the John Clarke Children's Program Room, children are invited to read to a trained therapy dog. No registration is required.
Art for Kids - Friday February 25, 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM
An open art session for kids ages 7+, presented by Salve Regina University student Danielle Derrica. Draw a still life, practice cartooning and more. No registration is required for this free program held in the John Clarke Children's Program Room.
February 23rd - Vacation Day at Coggeshall Farm - Website
Start the morning with Breakfast in the Barnyard at 9:00am and help with the morning chores while learning about farm animals in 18th century Rhode Island. Feed the swine, brush the cows, and turn out the chickens while finding out what makes Coggeshall Farm's animals so special. After the chores, return to the farmhouse for a breakfast of 1790's Jonnycakes. Stay throughout the day for additional hands-on 18th century farm work. Breakfast in the Barnyard runs from 9:00am-10:30am. $8.00 for Adults; $5.00 for Seniors and Children (6-12); Children under 5 Free. Museum Members-$5.00 for Adults; $3.00 for Seniors and Children (6-12); Children 5 and under Free. Regular admission from 10:00am-4:00pm.

Join Audubon during the February School Vacation Week and discover the world of animals and their habitats with your family. Nature crafts will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day, as well as Nature Story Readings at 12:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. There is no fee for these programs. **ALL PROGRAMS REQUIRE PAID ADMISSION TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER.
Creature Feature: Don't miss the chance to get up-close with one of Audubon's resident animals. Learn about these amazing creatures and how they survive. We will present a different animal each day from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Program is free and no registration is required. Please see schedule below:

Monday 2/21: Groundhogs - Nifty Nappers: On February 2, we say that if the groundhog wakes up sees his shadow, we are going to have six more weeks of winter. If he does not see his shadow then spring is right around the corner. Why is the groundhog sleeping and is there any truth to this old myth that groundhogs can predict the season? Come and learn about the mysteries behind hibernating animals!
Tuesday 2/22: Predators - Who Dun it?: Nature offers predators unique opportunities to find food and survive. Test your predator skills by investigating and finding clues in nature. This program will venture outside so please dress for the weather.
Wednesday 2/23: Sensational and Spineless: Did you know scientists estimate there may be as many as quintillion insects alive on the planet? Come and explore the world of bugs! Learn the differences and similarities between insects through hands-on activities and observation of real insect specimens.
Thursday 2/24: Cooking for the Birds: Become a bird chef and create unique and tasty dishes for the birds in your backyard. Using some of the recipes in the book Cooking for the Birds by Adele Porter we will create fun dinners and desserts for our feathered friends. Will you make a birdie sundae or maybe tweet trail mix? Come join the fun!
Friday 2/25: Bivalve Buffet: Ever wonder what is inside the shell of a clam? This special program for ages 7 and up will take students on a unique adventure as we dissect the famous Rhode Island Quahog. Participants will investigate all parts of the Quahog, both inside and out, using simple tools such as magnifying glasses, small scissors and our hands. The program is not recommended for children with seafood allergies. Knives and sharp instruments will not be used during the program. Space is limited to 15 children, so please register early!
