Car Seat Guide

Keeping your kids safe in the car is a top priority for Moms.  Here are some tips and useful information to help keep your kids as safe as possible during those long road trips and while running errands around town.

 RHODE ISLAND CHILD RESTRAINT LAW
Children under age 7, less than 54 inches (4-1/2 ft. tall) and weighing less that 80 lbs must be transported in any rear seating position of a motor vehicle and properly restrained in a child restraint system (booster seat).

Children between the ages of 7 through 12 as a passenger in any seating position shall be properly wearing a safety belt.

EXCEPTIONS:
Children under age 7 years are exempt from being transported in any rear seating position:
    1. the vehicle has no backseat (i.e. pickup, sports car)
    2. all rear seating positions are already being utilized by other children.

NOTE: In the #2 situation, the oldest child should ride in the front seat if vehicle is equipped with a passenger side air bag.
